Judy & Derek’s Romeo + Juliet

Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life

Wherefore Art Thou Romeo?

In an ice cold freezing swimming pool that’s where!!!

On Sunday, we shot our night scenes for Judy and Derek’s concept video, a spoof of Romeo+Juliet (the modern Baz Luhrmann/Leo DiCaprio/Claire Danes version). But before we packed up, we jumped into the swimming pool to shoot an intimate scene with the two starcross’d lovers. But it was cold! REALLY COLD! It felt like we were shooting Titanic! I was was tempted to have Judy recite the lines “I’ll never let go Jack, I’ll never let go.” (Note to self: next time tell the owner of the pool to have it heated before we arrive on set).

The things we’ll do to get the movie just right.

Be sure to tune in for the online premiere later this month.

Theresa and Ed’s Concept Video & Same Day Edit - Sheraton Universal

Friday, August 8th, 2008

I first met Theresa and Ed about a year ago. They came to me with with a grand idea for a concept video for their 08.08.08 wedding. At our very first meeting, Theresa handed me a complete script! It was fully typed out and looked like a real screenplay! I was shocked but I knew at that point it was going to be awesome.

tessblog1.jpg

They wanted to spoof their favorite movies and TV shows and use them as introductions for each section of their photo montage. Ed is a huge Star Wars fan (like me) and Theresa, who is a nurse, is a fan of Grey’s Anatomy (like my wife, Hazel). When they mentioned those shows, I was totally in! Theresa and Ed are also big fans of the Lakers (again, like us) and so before our first scheduled shoot day I threw in the idea of doing a couple of NBA and Nike commercials.

tessblog2.jpg

The finished product came together incredibly well. Theresa and Ed’s vision was perfect. We capped it off with a Same Day Edit using a song that Theresa sang and recorded for Ed. Thank you Theresa and Ed. You guys are so talented!

Napoleon Returns!

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

One of the best things about doing the Movie Trailer spoofs is the world premiere at your wedding reception! On the final DVDs, we feature a special version of the trailer that has the audience reaction so you can hear the applause and laughter over again. Check out the premiere of the “Napoleon Dynamite” trailer, that appears as a bonus feature on Cynthia & Gary’s wedding DVD.

Jennifer & Jonathan - Red 5 in the Bay (Part 2)

Monday, June 30th, 2008

We’re back… again! It was another fantastic (and much cooler) weekend in the Bay Area. This time around was for the wedding of Jonathan and Jennifer in San Francisco. Before their evening ceremony, we walked around the city with their photographers, Van and Brad (Van, Brad, Jon and I all worked for the South Coast Plaza Apple Store at one point).

jjblog1.jpg

Jen had a beautiful dress… but it was really heavy! I have to give her props for carrying that dress around town without any complaints. (Jen you’re a trooper). We got great shots around Market Street, Union Square, and the BART station. Even tourists were taking photos of the good looking bridal party!

jjblog2.jpg

Both Jon and Jen were definitely stars that day. Their first dance was a tango that rivaled that of Brangelina’s in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”. Jen had 3 dresses that night… all stunning, and each lighter than the previous one.

Finally, for their video presentation, Jon and Jen chose to sidestep the traditional photo montage and do a spoof of their favorite TV show, “The Office”. I had the idea of making it a mini-episode of the show and to end it with footage from their wedding day. It was a major hit. Definitely, one of the funniest videos we’ve ever produced. It was a pleasure working with Jon, Jennifer and the entire talented cast. Check out the entire video below.

Here’s the part of my blog where I talk about food. The day after the wedding, Hazel and I spent the entire day eating crabs. Hey, we were in San Francisco! The best, however, was saved for last. My cousin, Arleen, took us to a restaurant called Crustacean. Delicious crabs and garlic noodles! So awesome! Can’t wait to check out the one here in Beverly Hills!

Eleven is Your Lucky Number

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

One of fun things about doing the movie trailer spoofs for the video presentation is getting friends to be part of the cast. A perfect movie (at least for the guys) is Ocean’s Eleven. Check out this version done for Mark and Natasha’s wedding. I don’t make a cameo in this video but my wife, Hazel, does lend her voiceover talent. Trivia: she’s also the voice in our “Mission: Impossible 2″ and “Lord Of The Rings” videos. Enjoy!

I now pronounce you… “Spider-Man & Wife”

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Darren & Vicky wanted to surprise their wedding guests with a movie trailer spoof. They wanted a movie that had action, adventure and romance so they chose to do “Spider-Man”! We had a great time making the movie with their friends and family. Darren and Vicky played it right before their grand entrance and it was a wonderful way to start off their reception! The film was dedicated to Darren’s grandfather who starred in the film. Get well Mr. Ching, it was a pleasure working with you. Watch Darren & Vicky’s “Spider-Man” video below.

If you want to meet “Spider-Man” or would like to Try-Before-You-Buy the latest video games, visit Darren at his Play-N-Trade store in Irvine (on Jeffrey and Alton) which is seen in the video.

Checking into “The Office”

Monday, April 7th, 2008

I spent this past weekend up in the bay area shooting “The Office” for Jonathan and Jennifer. At the time they requested their favorite TV show as their concept video/TV show spoof, I had only seen the first 2 episodes of the NBC comedy. So I went and got all 3 available seasons on DVD to do my research. I quickly became a huge fan and I couldn’t wait to produce this video for their wedding reception. Instead of the usual trailer, we came up with a sort of mini-episode that focused on the wedding of the two office-mates and how the characters of “The Office” would prepare to celebrate. We had a great time shooting on-location at a real office (provided by Jonathan’s dad) and Jon and Jen brought in a wonderful cast of friends and family.

Return of The Matrix

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

This weekend we’re celebrating the 6th anniversary of our first theatrical-length movie trailer for a wedding, “The Matrix: Engaged”. The Matrix spoof stars Kristine & Brian and a wonderful cast of their friends and family. This still remains one of our favorites. Happy Anniversary Brian & Kristine! Here’s a look back at their movie:

Happy Valentine’s Day

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

Well to celebrate the day created for cards and flowers, I thought it would be appropriate to show one our more romantic movie trailers. Yes, most of the movies we’ve done are action or adventure movies. But once in a while we get to do a romantic comedy. Christina and Mike chose Jerry Maguire since Mike is a sports nut (Go Lakers!). To my surprise, Mike is also a great actor and does an awesome job of playing the sports agent who finally learns to love someone other than himself. Here’s another look at Christina and Mike’s “Gerry Aguirre”.
