Jennifer & Jonathan - Red 5 in the Bay (Part 2)

Monday, June 30th, 2008

We’re back… again! It was another fantastic (and much cooler) weekend in the Bay Area. This time around was for the wedding of Jonathan and Jennifer in San Francisco. Before their evening ceremony, we walked around the city with their photographers, Van and Brad (Van, Brad, Jon and I all worked for the South Coast Plaza Apple Store at one point).

Jen had a beautiful dress… but it was really heavy! I have to give her props for carrying that dress around town without any complaints. (Jen you’re a trooper). We got great shots around Market Street, Union Square, and the BART station. Even tourists were taking photos of the good looking bridal party!

Both Jon and Jen were definitely stars that day. Their first dance was a tango that rivaled that of Brangelina’s in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”. Jen had 3 dresses that night… all stunning, and each lighter than the previous one.

Finally, for their video presentation, Jon and Jen chose to sidestep the traditional photo montage and do a spoof of their favorite TV show, “The Office”. I had the idea of making it a mini-episode of the show and to end it with footage from their wedding day. It was a major hit. Definitely, one of the funniest videos we’ve ever produced. It was a pleasure working with Jon, Jennifer and the entire talented cast. Check out the entire video below.

Here’s the part of my blog where I talk about food. The day after the wedding, Hazel and I spent the entire day eating crabs. Hey, we were in San Francisco! The best, however, was saved for last. My cousin, Arleen, took us to a restaurant called Crustacean. Delicious crabs and garlic noodles! So awesome! Can’t wait to check out the one here in Beverly Hills!

Tiana & Nathan - Red 5 in the Bay (Part 1)

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Hey everyone! I just returned from an awesome weekend in San Francisco. This was the first of 3 weddings in the Bay Area this summer. And I was really looking forward to this one, since Tiana is the niece of my friend Brian. I’ve known his family since ours days in college, so seeing them all again was like coming to a family reunion (I feel like an adopted relative).

Back in 2001, I shot the wedding of Brian’s cousin, Lorelei. It was my first “official” wedding. We used their video as our demo to help us launch our business. And although our style has changed over the years, it is still one of our favorites. Seven years later, I was back up in Northern Cal to capture another special moment in the lives of the De Leon family…Tiana and Nathan’s wedding.

Tiana and Nathan have a wonderful story. They have been friends since they were kids. They dated through high school and college, and endured a long distance relationship when Nathan played football at UNLV. They got engaged as soon as he graduated in 2006, welcomed their first child, Kiana, last August, and finally celebrated their beautiful wedding this weekend. It was great to be part of the entire weekend celebration… from the rehearsal dinner, to the wedding day, and then the after party at their home in Benicia.

Here is the Next Day Edited video that features highlights from the ceremony at Mount St. Mary’s college in the foothills of the East Bay and the celebration at The City Club high atop downtown San Francisco.

A special shout out to Uncle Roger for the awesome sinigang, to Seb for the delicious crepes, and to Brian for hanging out and going to the Indian Restaurant at 1 a.m. And thank you to Tiana and Nathan, and to the Kenion, White and De Leon families for the hospitality. I had a wonderful weekend.

Lucille & Mark - Anaheim Sheraton

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Lucille and Mark celebrated their wedding at the Sheraton Anaheim. Hazel and I enjoy shooting weddings here, since this is where we got married… always brings back good memories. The hotel is across the street from Disneyland. But the “the happiest place on earth” that night was the Sheraton’s dance floor. The guests danced all night and DJ Cito-C brought the house down with his mad skills at the turntables. He’s the best I’ve heard in a while and I enjoyed the steady mix of old and new school hip-hop and r&b (it was so good I left it as an uncut scene on the DVD).Fun couple. Fun Party. Fun Wedding.Check out how the day began.

Annelynn & Michael - The Turnip Rose, Newport Beach

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

I first met Annelynn and Michael at The Apple Store (I sold them an iMac). It turned out her brother and my cousin had worked together on the feature film, The Debut! They’re a great couple and it’s rare to see them without a smile on their faces. Here are two clips from their video. The first is the opening montage set to a cover of The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven”. The second clip is Super 8 Film footage shot by Hazel. I love the vintage look of Super 8 film. There’s just something special about it. Enjoy!

We Love L.A.!!!

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

We share a common love with a lot of our brides and grooms… and it’s for our very own Los Angeles Lakers!!! If you’re fan (and I know there’s a lot of you out there) please leave a comment and show your love for Kobe & The Lakers! GO LAKERS!!!

UPDATE - What a great year. Not how we wanted it to end but a step in the right direction. The rivalry has begun and we’ll be back next year. (I’m old enough to remember the heartbreaking loss in the ‘84 Finals and then the sweet taste of revenge against the Celtics in ‘85). History will repeat.
