Christine & Jeff | Same Day Edit | Glendale Hilton

Monday, April 20th, 2009

It was almost 100 degrees in Los Angeles on Saturday. Yet the numbers on Christine & Jeff’s Laker jerseys (as they stormed into their reception) were “4″ and “18″, the date of their wedding. Yup, it was April 18th… but it felt like summer.

Besides the Laker gear and the unusual hot weather, there were also plenty of hints that this was a SoCal wedding. Christine and Jeff got engaged at Disneyland, so a Disney-inspired theme was found throughout the wedding day. From the Cinderella blue… to the “Main Street” twinkling lights… to the Mickey shaped table numbers, entering the reception hall felt like walking into the “happiest place on earth”.

And to celebrate Jeff’s heritage, a bit of Latin flavor was also thrown in. A live Mariachi band entertained guests during the cocktail hour and to get the party started, the newlyweds burned up the floor with a hot and fiery Latin first dance.

But more than they love L.A., Christine and Jeff truly love each other as you can see for yourself in their video.  Watch it in HD and you can see those huge teardrops coming down from Jeff’s eyes!

Bernadette & John | Las Vegas Trailer | Video Invitation

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

The saying goes: “What happens in Vegas… stays in Vegas.”

Well, not this time.

Bernadette & John came to me last year with the idea of putting together a DVD invitation for their wedding in Las Vegas. I thought if we’re going to get their guests excited about going to Vegas… then we need to go there and show them Vegas! So to make their “Ocean’s Eleven” inspired video, we visited their reception site, The Loews Lake Las Vegas Resort, strolled along Fremont Street in Downtown, and cruised along the Strip. We even caught an entire water show in front of the Bellagio while stuck in traffic. Hazel took over the driver’s seat, I jumped out of the truck with Bern & John, got our shots while watching the show, and then jumped back in. She probably moved about 10 feet during the 10 minute show.  Gotta love Saturday nights on the Strip.

Along with the trailer, the DVD includes an engagement session (with a very funny message from Bern & John), a photo montage of their bridal party, and info for all the weekend’s events. It’s a cool way to use the power of video for your wedding and it will soon be featured as a new service from our studio.

So stay tuned… we’ll be coming back with more from Vegas the last weekend of May. Vegas, baby, VEGAS!!!

Gin & Charlie | Same Day Edit | Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels

Monday, April 6th, 2009

One of the great things about doing weddings in Southern California is that many of the couples that I work with share the same passion as I do… THE L.A. LAKERS. I’ve been a fan since Magic Johnson’s rookie year… which sounds crazy because it’s longer than some of our brides and grooms have been alive!!! And like any great marriage, I’ve loved them in the good times, the really good times… and even loved them in the bad times (Here’s proof of my crazy love at the 2006 playoffs). I bleed purple and gold. And so do Gin & Charlie, two of the biggest Laker fans I’ve ever met. So for their Same Day Edit, I thought it would be cool do something fast & furious reminiscent of the “Showtime” era.

Check out the new Kobe Hyperdunks that they sported during the reception on their wedding day. Also, if you’re wondering what they’re doing at the end of the ceremony, the priest closed by say “Congratulations… you may now change your facebook status!” That night, the chants for “M-V-P” were for Gin & Charlie. Congrats guys and GO LAKERS!!!
