Christina & Mike: You had me at “hello”.
This past weekend we shot the wedding of Christina and Mike at the Cathedral in Downtown L.A. The reception was held at the awesome banquet hall just across the plaza. Having the ceremony and reception in the same location is great because guests don’t have to drive and no one gets lost. But the challenge for us is that we have less time to put together the Same Day Edited music video! In this case, we had 1 hour (yes… one, uno, isa) between the end of the ceremony and the grand entrance. Scrambling during the edit, I felt like 24’s Jack Bauer trying to dismantle a bomb with the clock ticking away! Hazel & I tag-teamed to stay on schedule. She edited while Deyo and I shot the grand entrance and first dance. Somehow, we got it done, with 5 minutes to spare, before showtime.
The video presentation was a lot of fun to watch (this is actually the only time during the wedding that I get to sit down, relax and enjoy the show). Christina and Mike picked some really cool, upbeat tunes for their montage. Then we switched it up to romantic ballads to set the mood for the Jerry Maguire spoof (Big thanks to The Boss, Mr. Bruce Springsteen!). It was sweet (”You had me at ‘Hello’”… >tear<) and funny (got a lot of big laughs from the crowd). For the on-site, Christina gave me the choice between two songs…I went with Nick Lachey’s “This I Swear”, because of its nice violin intro and big ending. I think it worked out great and Christina was pleasantly surprised. Check out what Jesse, their photographer from Weldon’s Photography, had to say on his blog. Thanks, Jesse for the kind words. Here’s one of his photos taken during the presentation. The smiles say it all.

Loyd, the ranting and raving about your work has not stopped and we’re at 10 days post-wedding day. Our fam & friends keep talking about the entire video production (montage, Jerry Maguire spoof, & on-site edit). Seriously. Non-stop! My sis-n-law and I can’t stop watching the on-site edit over-n-over again; yes, we were Nick & Jessica fans at one time, so great choice w/the song. She’s even showed her entire office staff! Everyone, I mean EVERYONE has applauded you. All I can say is you’re definitely the Steven Spielberg of Wedding Cinematography! Two thumbs up Red 5 Studios!
