FAQs
Q. What is your shooting style?
A. We let the events unfold as they happen and capture moments candidly without set-up or direction.
Q. What type of equipment do you use?
A. We use a variety of cameras. We use 3CCD (3 Chip ) digital video cameras to capture multiple angles of your wedding ceremony and reception. What’s the big deal? 3 Chip cameras capture light (red, green, and blue) seperately which is different from consumer cameras which only have one. The result is better picture and colors. We use lighting on our cameras ONLY if we have to. If we do, we will do our best to difuse the light so that no one is blinded. But we prefer to use natural lighting. We also use glide-cams (aka Steadi-cam) for those smooth sweeping and moving shots when called for.
Q. I saw some demos with that old “home movie” look. What is that?
A. That, my friends, is FILM! We recently incorporated Super 8 film into our videos to get that grainy, flawed, but warm look that only comes from film! It’s a great addition and there will be more of that later.
Q. Do you shoot in High Definition (HD)?
A. YES! Now we do!
Q. How do you edit the weddings?
A. We creatively piece together the events of your wedding day, making a video that reflects the style of your wedding, your distinct personalities, and your taste in music, movies, and television. Whether you choose the cinematic or documentary style, the result is a fun and enjoyable video you can proudly share with family and friends, not once, but over and over again.
Q. Where do you find inspiration?
A. We’re big fans of movies and television as are a lot of our clients. Let’s just say we’re frequent visitors of Blockbuster. We’re also big music fans. Our iPods have everything from R&B to country to contemporary Christian.
Q. Who picks the music for the video?
A. You can choose your favorite music for the video. We ask you what genres to use and what to avoid before we start editing. We also keep in mind the type of music played at your reception. But most of our clients trust our judgment. We won’t play Heavy Metal over the father/daughter dance… unless you want us to.
Q. How long are the edited DVDs?
A. Approximately 30-40 minutes but the length depends on what happens during the day. We do give you the raw uncut footage to watch so you can see all the embarrassing moments around the open bar.
Q. Is the edited movie one long music video?
A. No. If it were, we wouldn’t need microphones and go through the trouble of capturing audio, right? Although music plays a big part of the video to create emotion, we employ audio from the most important parts of the wedding day. This includes the pastor or priest’s message, readings, vows, toasts and reception speeches.
Q. What makes you different from other videographers?
A. We are a family business and not a factory for wedding videos. We limit our schedule each year to focus on each and every event we are hired for. We pride ourselves in developing personal relationships with our clients and our attention to the smallest details from start to finish. In addition to the wedding video, we also do some fun and unique presentations for the reception. Be sure to check out our montages, on-site edited videos, and our award-winning movie trailers.
Q. Why does it take so long to edit a video?
A. We try to make each video unique and different. No cookie cutters here. We’re trying to create art. Because we use this approach, it can take many, many hours of editing, reviewing, and re-editing to create a video. Creating the DVD and their packages take time to do also. That’s just how it is. As I mentioned, we’re not a assembly line factory. If you’re looking for a quick turnaround, you might want to look elsewhere. We do the most work of all your vendors after the wedding.
Q. If a picture is worth a thousand words… then how much is a video worth?
A. Well, that depends if you shot at 60 or 30 frames (pictures) per second. So the answer is… a lot.
Q. Is there an additional charge for weddings outside of the general Southern California (1.5 hour drive or more)?
A. Yes. Transportation and accommodation costs are incurred if an overnight stay is required. Gas prices aren’t looking to get any better any time soon.
Q. Do we need to feed you?
A. It would be nice if you would have a meal for your vendors but that’s up to you. If you’ve seen my picture, I’m a skinny guy so I don’t eat much. A plate of chicken nuggets and fries instead of the prime rib would be appreciated. (I can’t speak for my assistants, though)
Q. Do you believe in God?
A. Yes. My wife (of 12 wonderful years) is His gift to me. He gave her the patience to deal with me.
Q. You look pretty young. How old are you?
A. We were 10 years old when we got married… so that makes us 21, old enough to do weddings in Vegas.
Q. Are you serious?
A. No. But I do take recording your wedding seriously.
Q. Seriously?
A. Seriously.
Q. Last question: Jedi or Sith?
A. Jedi. But you don’t know the power of The Dark Side.
